FSU's Hemlepp Named ACC Rookie of the Year as Five Seminoles Are Honored
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Five Florida State volleyball players earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors,the most of any school in the conference, the league announced today.
Freshman Kate Hemlepp of Boca Raton was named Rookie of the Year while juniors Fiona Bolten and Susan Hawks, both of Tampa and Holly Schneider of Fort Wayne, Indiana garnered second team honors. Freshman Jennifer Werrick, of Lakeland, joined Hemlepp on the All-Freshman team.
Hemlepp and Werrick combined for six of the league's 12 Rookie of the Week honors this season. Bolten currently leads the league in assists per game at 12.96, while Schneider is tops in service aces per game. Hawks ranks among the top four in the league in hitting and blocking.
The five honors are the most by a Florida State volleyball team since joining the ACC in 1992. Schneider is now a two-time honoree as she was selected to the ACC All-Freshman team in 1995.
The #2 seed Lady Seminoles will face #8 seed Virginia at 6 p.m. on Friday in the first round of the ACC Tournament in Raleigh, N.C.
