Going Home:
The 1997 NCAA East Regional is an opportunity for sophomore Sarah Capie to return to her home state of Illinois. Capie, a native of Carterville, Il, will have the chance to return home with the team on the Sunday prior to the beginning of the tournament. The team plans to play a practice round on Monday in preparation for the Regional.

Familiar Foes:
The teams participating in the East Regional will be no strangers to the Lady Seminoles. Sixteen of the 19 teams in this year's field have played in at least one tournament this season with the Lady Seminoles. The field features all four ACC schools and eight schools from the SEC.

Only Seven:
Only seven of the nineteen teams in the East Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships in Columbus, OH in two weeks. Eleven teams from the West will make the trip to Ohio State for Nationals.

Tournament Schedule:
The practice round for the NCAA East Regional will take place on Wednesday, May 7th at the Prairie View Golf Course. The first round is scheduled for Thursday with the final round taking place on Saturday. The tee times for the first round of the Regional are determined by the NCAA and all subsequent rounds will be determined by order of finish.

Dillman Reign:
Finishing her 13th year as the head coach of the Lady Seminole golf program, head coach Debbie Dillman will take an impressive record into this weekend's tournament. The Lady Seminoles have finished in the top five 46 of 80 times in the 1990's and have claimed eight team titles during that time. Six golfers have claimed individual medalist honors in the 1990's.

Quoting Coach Dillman:

On the season:
"We played very well early in the season. I think that we started pushing with the added success and expectations that we had. We hit a slump during the middle of the season, but we were able to finish the season on a strong note. They realized that they can play with anyone and it was a mental thing as much as anything.

On the Regional:
"We can't afford to have a bad round. There aren't any bad teams in this regional, so consistency is very important. The pressure will be very tough, considering that teams are shooting for that top 7 finish. I don't think that we have to play any better than we have been, just more consistent. The field consists of four very tough teams from the ACC and a number of schools from the SEC. Tennessee and Louisiana St. are playing as well as anybody right now.

On last month of season:
"The Ryder State Championship was a very important tournament for this team. Psychologically it was important to know that we can play with anybody. The girls realized this and are playing much better. The chemistry of this group in the last couple of months has been phenomenal.

On Amy Bond:
" Amy has been very consistent for us this year. She has alot of confidence going into the Regional. It will be very important that she plays well for our team to advance to the NCAA Championships.

On Amy Spooner:
"She is hitting the ball very well at the end of the year. She also has done an excellent job of accepting her mistakes and going from there."
