Florida State Basketball Opens Exhibition Schedule

TALLAHASSEE, FL -- The Florida State men's basketball team opens its 1997-98 season with an exhibition game against the Around the World All-Stars on Saturday morning at 12:00 a.m. in Tully Gym.

"I think our guys are looking forward to playing against some different faces," said FSU head coach Steve Robinson. "They have been going up against each other for two weeks and are ready to play together as a team."

The 12:00 a.m. start time coincides with NCAA regulations that require exhibition games to played no sooner than November 1. The game will be broadcast live on Sunshine Network.

The Seminoles are coming off the Garnet and Gold game held on Wednesday. Freshman center Karim Shabbaz scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in leading his Gold team to a 97-94 overtime win. Junior college transfer Terrell Baker led the Gold with 26 points.

The Seminoles finish their exhibition schedule on November 6 against the Converse All-Stars in the Leon County Civic Center. Florida State tips off the regular season on November 14 at Rice.
