2008-09 TRYOUT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Friday, April 25th 5:30pm - Informational Meeting Held In Opperman Hall
Saturday, April 26th 8:30am - Tryouts begin in Tully Gym
Material will be taught from 8:30-11:00am. Cuts will take place from 12-5pm.
Attire, including shoes, is whatever you feel most comfortable in.
Sunday, April 27th 9:00am - Final Cuts of Tryouts begin in Tully Gym
The 2008-09 squad will be announced by 1:00pm
Attire is black half top, black dance shorts, and whatever shoes you feel most comfortable in.
Please note: If you are interested in ways you can receive extra preparation before tryouts or if you are a high school student* and would like to partake in the audition process without being judged, please contact Coach Crawford via email or by phone.
*This is for student's who either aren't attending FSU or are high school underclassmen.
REQUIREMENTS:
All students trying out must have a 2.5 G.P.A from the previous semester and a 2.0 Cumulative G.P.A. At the time of tryouts every participant must provide a copy of their medical insurance (front and back), copy of their acceptance letter or FSUCard and a current 4x7 photo. There is a $25.00 tryout fee that needs to be in the form of cash or money order. NO CHECKS WILL BE TAKEN! Requirements to make the team include a floor combination with the following; left and right turns, fouette turns, right and left leaps. You will also be asked to perform the FSU fight song and a jazz/hip hop mix that is taught at tryouts. You will not have to bring any of your own routines; however there may be the opportunity to improvise up to 32 counts of jazz or hip hop at some point during the routine.

About the Program
The Golden Girls dance ream consists of 16-20 members. They dance at all home football games and men's basketball games, as well as some volleyball and women's basketball games. Additionally, the Golden Girls travel with the men's basketball team to post-season tournaments. Along with practice and games, these ladies spend a great deal of time as ambassadors of the University. They represent FSU while doing appearances throughout the community and around the state. The Golden Girls are not on scholarship; however the University provides all uniforms, Nike apparel and camp clothes. Additionally, all travel costs are covered by the University including meals while traveling. The Golden Girls compete at UDA Nationals and are currently ranked 6th in the Nation in jazz.

The golden girls practice Monday - Thursday evenings for approximately 3 hours. The girls are required to maintain a workout schedule and maintain a great physical appearance. The girls choreograph a lot of their own half time and time out routines.
