Cross Country Student-Athletes Visit Bond Elementary School

Nov. 2, 2004

Recently, FSU Student-Athletes Mike Walsh and Sarah Habersbrunner spent the morning reading to children at Bond Elementary School. The two cross country runners were present as part of the Positive Action Program.

At Bond Elementary School, the Positive Action Program rewards students for their good grades, friendly interaction with others and excellent behavior. More then twenty students were present for this event.

Mike and Sarah both read books to the students, and then ate lunch with them. They also spoke to the children about the importance of reading, and getting good grades.

After lunch, the children asked questions of Mike and Sarah about being a student-athlete at Florida State. The children at Bond Elementary School enjoyed the visit, and hope that Mike and Sarah will be able to come back for another Positive Action Program event.
