TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Before closing out the 2013 regular season at home, the 22nd-ranked Florida State indoor volleyball team will head to Coral Gables, Fla. to face Miami on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Seminoles (18-7, 11-3) will battle the Hurricanes (15-9, 8-6) for the second time this season, as FSU took the first match 3-1 on Nov.1. Florida State is looking to snap a two-match slide while playing at Miami, as the last victory was on Sept.18, 2010 when FSU won 3-1.
"It's a very tough place to play," head coach Chris Poole said. "It's a rivalry match. It will be a good match and the level of play is always very high. They've got a very small gym with a lot of people and the girls know the amount of pressure that is on them."
After splitting the weekend 1-1 while on the road in the state of Virginia, the Seminoles are tied with North Carolina for second place in the ACC behind Duke. The 13th-ranked Blue Devils hold a two game lead (13-1) in the conference.
Miami has lost two-straight matches, falling to Virginia Tech and Virginia this past weekend after defeating then-ranked No.12 North Carolina.
"It's always tough playing the same team twice," Poole said. "If you won the first time, certainly you want to do the things that worked the last time but you know the other team is going to come back and try to do things different. We've been trying to look at that match in order to figure out what we need to do better, knowing that Miami is going to try and change some things."
Following Wednesday's battle, the Seminoles return home for a five-match home stand, starting on Sunday when FSU faces Notre Dame at 12 p.m.
