TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Ranked No. 17 in the nation for the third week in a row, the Florida State volleyball team travels to Virginia for matches against the Cavaliers and Hokies this weekend.

The Seminoles (19-2, 11-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) match up against Virginia on Friday at 7 p.m. and take on Virginia Tech on Saturday at 6 p.m.

The first-place 'Noles will be looking to make a little history against the Cavaliers (9-13, 4-7) as they are currently on a school-record tying seven-game conference winning streak. A win over Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. will officially break the standard set previously by the 1992 and '98 teams guided by FSU Hall of Fame coach Cecile Reynaud.

This will be the second time this year that FSU will play against the Cavs and Hokies. The Seminoles earned a 3-1 win over Virginia Tech on Sept. 25 at home and then defeated the Cavs two days later, 3-0.

At 10-1 in the ACC, FSU finds itself in the proverbial driver's seat in a league that does not utilize a postseason tournament to crown its champion. That means each and every game is important for a 'Noles program that is looking to claim the second ACC championship in school history.

While his team looks to keep a stranglehold on the conference, FSU head coach Chris Poole is getting closer and closer to a milestone in his career. Currently 40-11 in one-and-a-half years as the Seminoles' coach, Poole is now just 10 victories shy of reaching career win No. 600.

If FSU can remain perfect to finish the season, he would have the chance to get that victory in the NCAA Tournament.
