For Your 'Nole'dge: Katie Mosher

Oct. 25, 2012

Through the remainder of the season, each Florida State indoor volleyball student-athlete will participate in a question and answer session that goes beyond the volleyball court and will be posted weekly on Seminoles.com. The fifth student-athlete is redshirt sophomore libero Katie Mosher

On earliest memory of playing volleyball:

It was probably back in fifth grade, during P.E. class in my elementary school days. It wasn't anything competitive; it was a joke. I just loved sports ever since I was little and I never tried volleyball before, I always stuck with basketball or soccer and other sports so when I finally got a chance to play volleyball I was like `Oh, this is fun, I could try this.'

In what ways do you try to better yourself as a volleyball player?

In practice I just try to listen to my coaches, listen to whatever they tell me and try to go 100 percent every day and just work as hard as I can.

On the three things she cannot live without:

My phone. I'm always on my phone for whatever reason, checking Twitter or something, then I would have to say my computer, because I'm always on that too and last I would say my family because I talk to them every day, sometimes more than once a day.

On how she spends her free time outside of volleyball:

When I'm home I like to go to the beach because I live like 10 minutes away from the beach. Besides that, up here, I kind of just hang out and relax, go to the mall with some of the girls. Watch TV, hang out, do normal people things, rest usually.

What single piece of technology you cannot live without?

My phone, because everything is on it. Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, texting everything.

On a daily activity that bores her:

I don't really know. Sometimes classes, especially in the morning when you're really tired. I mean my classes are pretty interesting but sometimes you're just so tired you just would rather be home sleeping.

Finish this sentence, the best part of waking up is...

The best part of waking up is getting a new day, just go and do new things. Take advantage of the opportunities that I have.

On her favorite thing about fall besides playing volleyball:

I love the weather first of all, I mean not right now, but when it gets really nice out I love the weather. Football season is always fun, even though we don't really get to go to the games, we still get to watch them. I would have to say football season. We get a lot of great fans so with football games being home when we are at home we get a lot of fans on Friday nights.

When do you feel your best, morning, afternoon or at night?

Probably afternoon. Night time I get a little tired after practice and stuff I kind of just want to go and relax and in the morning, no way, I'm not a morning person.

What is your philosophy of life?

Oh that's deep...I don't know. I guess live every day in the present, don't really worry about what's happening in the future or what happened in the past, just kind of take it as it is. Just kind of go with the flow. I try not to get overwhelmed when a lot of things are going on. I used to do that a lot. I think when you get overwhelmed you get stressed and then you don't really achieve the things you want up to your fullest potential so I think just to try to stay calm, relax and don't get overwhelmed.
