Florida State Volleyball Ready To Open 2003 Season

The Seminole volleyball team opens the 2003 season by hosting the FSU Invitational, August 29-30, in Lucy McDaniel Arena at Tully Gymnasium. FSU is hosting Florida Atlantic, No. 15 Kansas State and Michigan. Florida State will face FAU at 12:30 p.m. on Friday and Kansas State at 7:30 p.m. later that evening. On Saturday, the Seminoles play Michigan at 6:00 p.m. to wrap up the weekend tournament. FSU is an impressive 16-1 in season openers since 1986, with the one loss coming at Illinois State last season. Florida State returns three starters from the 2002 ACC runner-up squad, including senior setter Jennifer Anderson who had 1,734 assists in '02. She is just 790 assists away from becoming FSU's all-time leader in career assists.

FSU Vs. The Tournament Field

Florida Atlantic (0-0) Florida State leads the all-time series with Florida Atlantic 8-0 dating back to 1993. The Seminoles opened the 1996 season with two matches against FAU, winning both 3-0.

No. 15 Kansas State (0-2) This will be the first-ever meeting between Florida State and Kansas State.

Michigan (0-0) The Seminoles and Wolverines will meet for the second time on Saturday with FSU leading the all-time series 1-0. The only meeting came in the 1997 season, when Florida State posted a 3-1 (7-15, 15-5, 15-6, 15-12) victory over Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
