TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Seminole indoor volleyball fans are encouraged to get a fresh look at the defending NCAA national semifinal participants as Florida State holds its annual Garnet and Gold scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. at Tully Gym.

Just like for every match, admission to the event is free for the general public. Fans will be able to see eight returning student-athletes from last season's Atlantic Coast Conference Championship team, as well as seven talented newcomers.

Anyone attending the match can also get autographed pictures signed by the team at the conclusion of the event. Specially designed photos on the team's Facebook site - Facebook.com/FSUVolleyball - can be printed off for the team to sign on Saturday.

"Our coaching staff is excited about the Garnet and Gold match," head coach Chris Poole said. "We have balanced the teams by position and feel it will be a very competitive match and a good test for all our new players. We no doubt have a lot of talent and it will be good for us to see the players in a game atmosphere."

Also competing in the intra-squad scrimmage will be alumnae Brianna Barry, Jordana Price, Jenna Romanelli and Taylor Wilson. All four former players were key members of Florida State's 2009 squad that reached the NCAA Regional Finals to jumpstart the program's current streak of success.

The Garnet team will be led by assistant coach Gokhan Yilmaz. The student-athletes include Duygu Duzceler, Ashley Neff, Laura Dadowski, Fatma Yildirim, Nicole Walch and Marija Milosavljevic. All four alumnae will also compete with the Garnet squad.

AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year Holly Watts will coach the Gold team. The student-athletes include Sarah Wickstrom, Sareea Freeman, Katie Mosher, Caroline Dadowski, Olivera Medic, Leah Mikesky, Elise Walch, Sarah Burrington and Mara Green.

The Seminoles begin the 2012 season with a No. 12 preseason ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches' Poll, marking the third-highest ranking in school history. FSU ended last season with its highest ranking ever at No. 7, culminating a 28-7 season full of program feats.

Following Saturday's scrimmage, FSU will prepare for a challenging three-match weekend at the Comcast Lady Vol Classic. The Seminoles face 15th-ranked and defending Southeastern Conference champion Tennessee on the road on Friday, Aug. 24, at 7 p.m. ET. FSU then battles 10th-ranked Iowa State on Saturday, Aug. 25 at noon ET before wrapping up the invitational facing Cincinnati on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET.
