TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State indoor volleyball team will continue its spring season and host Florida on Friday, March 21 at 4 p.m. at Tully Gym.
"Florida State and Florida have had some great battles over the last five years and both teams really get up for each other," head coach Chris Poole said. "While certainly neither staff would put the same emphasis on the spring as we do the fall, it does give us a measuring stick to the improvement we are making in the spring individually."
Coach Poole and Florida head coach Mary Wise have agreed to run the match as close to an in-season contest as possible.
This will be the first time the two squads have met since the Seminoles knocked the Gators out of the 2013 NCAA Tournament after pulling off a 3-2 upset in the O'Connell Center for the first time in 23 seasons. It was also the biggest win in program history.
"Both teams are still missing players that will be available in the fall," Poole said. "But it does give the players working out now a chance to play a competitive match. It will be our last competition against a college team this spring, so we are hoping to play well."
The Seminoles will continue their spring play on Saturday with a scrimmage against the FSU men's club team/alumni players. This is a change from the previously scheduled match on March 23 against the Florida WAVE Pro Team. The match will start around 12:30.
