Tallahassee, Fla. - Coming off a 16-14 season, the Florida State volleyball team began spring workouts on February 18 in Tully Gymnasium. The Seminoles have scheduled matches with Florida and the College of Charleston, as well as a home tournament in April.
The first game of the spring season will be against in-state rival Florida on March 1 at 10:00 a.m. in Gainesville, Fla. The Gators finished 29-3 in 2007, making it to the semifinals of the NCAA Regionals. The Seminoles fell to Florida 3-1 in the regular season, but have been practicing hard these past two weeks for the rematch this weekend.
Florida State's workouts have consisted of weight-lifting and conditioning, including cardio and pool sessions throughout the week. In preparation for UF on Saturday, the team has incorporated passing and serving drills to their already busy team practices.
Following the match this weekend, the Seminoles will head to the College of Charleston on March 28 and 29 for a beach and an indoor tournament. Closing out the spring season will be the FSU Spring Tournament on April 5, featuring North Florida, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Troy and South Alabama.
All games are open to the public and admission is free. Seminoles.com will be updated with times for the spring scrimmages as they are finalized.
