FSU Women's Volleyball Wins All Sport Volleyball Challenge
ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN -- The Florida State Women's Volleyball team defeated both Montana and Eastern Michigan three games to none to win the All-Sport Volleyball Classic in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Seminoles went 3-0 on the weekend to run their overall record to 6-0 on the season.
In the noon game, the Noles defeated Montana 15-8, 15-3, 15-8. Holly Schneider lead the team with 11 kills and contributed 8 digs to the cause. Other major contributors were Aisha Thornton with 10 kills and 4 blocks and Kate Hemlepp with 9 kills for a .533 percentage.
The Seminoles were victorious in the evening game against Eastern Michigan winning 15-13, 15-10, 15-5. LaToya Presberry dominated the game with a team high 18 kills and 22 digs. Other leaders were Holly Schneider with 11 kills and 12 digs and Aisha Thornton with 11 kills.
"We're playing great as a team,"said Head Coach Cecile Reynaud, "It's been a while since we've won back to back tournaments and been undefeated on the season. We are playing with a well rounded offense that has alot of weapons."
Freshman, Kate Hemlepp,who made her first appearance as a starter over the weekend, was named to the all-tournament team. Also named to the all-tournament squad were LaToya Presberry and Fiona Bolton. Presberry was also named the tournament's most valuable player.
The next game for the Lady Noles is at home Wednesday night against Georgia Southern at 7:00pm .
