Lady Seminoles Defeat Michigan
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Florida State Women's Volleyball team defeated University of Michigan tonight 3-1 in the All-Sport Volleyball Classic in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After losing the first game 7-15, the Seminoles went on to win the next three 15-5, 15-6, 15-12, improving their record to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 against Big Ten opponents.
Michigan came out with 17 kills in the first game but it was all Florida State from there. Leading offensively for the Seminoles were LaToya Presberry with 15 kills and 6 blocks, Aisha Thornton with 15 kills and 7 blocks, and Susan Hawks with 8 blocks. Holly Schneider led the defense with 18 digs as well as 10 kills.
"It was an exciting game," Coach Cecile Reynaud said. "Playing in front of a crowd of over 600 we were a little off in the first game but we definitely got it together. We played the middle a lot and scored most of the points there. Blocking was the key to this game. With Aisha (Thornton), LaToya (Presberry), and Susan (Hawks) all playing well and blocking well, we were able to shut them out."
The Seminoles will meet up against University of Montana at 12:30 tomorrow followed by a match up with Eastern Michigan at 5:00.
