Women's Volleyball Rolls Past Wake Forest
WINSTON-SALEM, NC- The Lady Seminole volleyball team used an impressive offensive performance to pick up an important conference victory 3-0 over Wake Forest. The 15-3, 15-10, 15-2 win improves Florida State's ACC record to 10-5 and 23-7 overall. Wake Forest fell to 8-22, 1-14 in the conference.
"We served very well tonight and our outside hitters were able to score," said head coach Cecile Reynaud following the match. "It was critical for us to win in three games against Wake Forest."
Florida State hit .314 as a team with middle hitter Susan Hawks leading the way with a .727 hitting percentage on an error-free 8 kills in 11 attempts. Outside hitters Holly Schneider and Jennifer Werrick tallied double-digit kills to lead the FSU offense. On serve, Fiona Bolton notched 4 aces while Kate Hemlepp, in her first start since an October injury, and Schneider added 2 aces each.
With one match remaining, Florida State looks to lock up sole possession of second place in the ACC with a victory at Duke Sunday afternoon. A loss could put FSU in a four-way tie for the runner-up position. The Lady Seminoles' match with the Blue Devils begins at 2:00 p.m. in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
