Oct. 8, 2000

Box Score

DURHAM, N.C. - Despite a career-high 23 kills by junior middle hitter Norisha Campbell, the Florida State volleyball team fell in five games by scores of 19-17, 4-15, 8-15, 15-7, 8-15, to the Duke Blue Devils Saturday night at Cameron Indoor Stadim. With the loss, FSU goes to 13-7 overall and 2-4 in the ACC while the Blue Devils improve to 14-5 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Campbell led all players with 23 kills and a .314 hitting performance. The Lady Seminoles had five players with double figure kills. Sophomores Kristin Frye (10 kills, 14 digs) and Alex Sevillano (14 kills, 15 digs) and senior Jennifer Werrick (11 kills, 16 digs) recorded double-doubles for the match while Dawn Hough added 12 kills to the effort. Sophomore setter Jamie Hibbard notched 58 assists and 11 digs.

"We fought hard against a good Duke team tonight," FSU Head Coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud said. "I thought Norisha had an outstanding match and several players contributed, but Duke is a very good blocking team. Winning in three against Wake Forest, away from home, last night was a good win for us. We fought hard most of the time tonight and are doing some good things."

Duke was led by Ashley Harris who had 22 kills for a .260 hitting performance. As a team, Duke outblocked FSU 29-17.

The Lady Seminoles will return home for three straight matches at Tully Gym. FSU will host crosstown-rival Florida A&M on Wednesday, October 11th at 7 p.m. and will then entertain ACC-foes Georgia Tech and Clemson over the weekend.
