East Lansing, Mich. - In the first road match of the season the Florida State volleyball team fell three games to two to Missouri State at the Spartan Invitational. The Seminoles drop to 2-1 on the season while the Bears improve to 5-0. Florida State led the first half of game five before Missouri State took the lead at 8-7 and then held the Seminoles scoreless in the last five plays of the game. The Bears, a 2006 NCAA Tournament team, took the match with a 15-11 victory. Despite the loss, senior Makini Thompson (Quincy, Mass.), junior Mira Djuric (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Jackie BonSalle (Albuquerque, N.M.) all posted double-doubles. Thompson went 13-13 in kills and points, Djuric 16-23 and BonSalle 17-17. The Seminoles return to the court at Jenison Field House Saturday, Sept. 1, at 11:00 a.m. to take-on Big 12 team Kansas, followed by a 7:30 p.m. match-up with tournament host Michigan State.
