Sue Woodstra Assistant Coach 2nd Season Sue Woodstra, former University of California head volleyball coach and an 1984 Olympic silver medalist, is in her second season as a member of the Florida State volleyball coaching staff. As Dr. Cecile Reynaud's top assistant, Woodstra is involved with recruiting for the Lady Seminoles, assisting the student-athletes with their academic progress, as well as the day-to-day management of the team.

After a decorated playing career, Woodstra turned her talents to the coaching arena as an assistant at Arizona State University in 1985. After four seasons at ASU, she began a four-year reign as head coach at the University of Pittsburgh (1989-1992) where she led the Lady Panthers to four consecutive Big East conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances. She earned Big East Coach of the Year honors in 1990. Woodstra also spent a year coaching internationally at the professional level in Germany, guiding the USC Munster team to a 28-4 record and the C.E.V. European Cup Championship in 1993. The following year, Woodstra served as a volunteer coach at the University of Notre Dame before becoming the head coach at the University of California (Berkeley) in 1995.

As a standout player at the University of Southern California, Woodstra helped the Lady Trojans to the 1977 AIAW National Championship while earning All-America honors. She went on to an impressive eight-year career on the U.S. National Team and served as team captain for four seasons. During her National Team stint, Woodstra helped the United States to the 1983 Zone Championship and three other top five finishes in Zone and World Championship play. Woodstra was also the team captain of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team that earned a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Woodstra played four seasons (1984-88) on the professional level for the NEC Volleyball Team of the Japan League. She also played three seasons with the Merrill Lynch/Reebok USVBA team where she earned Most Valuable Player honors after leading the squad to its second straight national championship in 1986. In 1993, Woodstra was selected as a USVBA All-Time Great Volleyball Player for her career achievements.
