Florida State Track Team To Compete At The Gator Invitational

Tallahassee, Fla. - The Florida State men's and women's indoor track and field team head to Gainesville, Fla. on Sunday for the Gator Invitational. The Seminoles are one of 19 teams that are competing at the Invitational including four women's teams and six men's teams, all in the SEC, ranked in the Top 10. Florida State joins conference foe, Georgia Tech as the only other ACC team competing at the tournament on Sunday. This will the Tribe's third competition of the year, and first in two weeks.

Last season, the Seminoles came away from the Gator Invitational with three first place finishes and one second place finish. For the women, sophomore Lacy Janson finished first in the pole vault recording an NCAA automatic bid with a vault of 13-05.25 and senior Kim Jones placed second in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.55. On the men's side, Cedrick Robinson earned first place honors in the 400m dash in a time of 48.11, while Jeff Atkinson also finished first in the pole vault receiving an NCAA provisional bid with a height of 17-01.25.

The Gator Invitational will begin on Sunday at 9:00 am with six field and 11 track events for both the men and women.
