ITA Southeast Regional Draws

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State women's tennis team will be attending the ITA Southeast Regional on Oct. 18-21, hosted by the University of Georgia. It marks the third tournament of the fall for the Seminoles as they continue to improve and gain experience heading into the spring season.

The four-day tournament will consist of a 64-person singles main draw and a 32-team doubles main draw. The winners from each draw will automatically qualify for the 2013 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 7-10, in Flushing, N.Y.

"This is a big tournament of the year for us. Winners get to go to National Indoors at the beginning of November. So there's a lot on the line this weekend," said head coach Jennifer Hyde. "We're playing a lot of tennis right now, back-to-back-to-back weekends of competitions. But it`s good, it gets us match tough and I'm excited to see what the weekend brings."

Friday's action starts at 9 a.m. with all three of Florida State's doubles squads in action. Daneika Borthwick and Kerrie Cartwright will be facing the pair of Guilietta Boha and Carlotta Orlando of FIU. Kristina Schleich and Majlena Pederson are paired up against Florida's Stefani Stojic and Olivia Janowicz. Laurence Porry and Duda Dos Santos will take on the No. 3 doubles seed pairing of Kendal Woodard and Megan Kurey of Georgia Tech.

The singles draw gets underway at 11 a.m. with the No. 5 seed Borthwick vs. Megan Kurey (GT), Cartwright vs. Olaya Garrido (USF) and Mia Vriens vs. Josephine Haraldson (UCF).

The remaining `Noles take to the court for their singles matches in the afternoon with Dos Santos vs. No. 13 Lina Lileikite (UM) at 12 p.m., Porry vs. Lilly Kimbell (UGA), Schleich vs. No. 3 Abigail Tere-Apisah (GaSt) at 2 p.m. Majlena Pederson will be competing in the singles B draw against Liza Klyachkin (MU) at 3:30 p.m.

"I know we're all really excited to go play. I don't think anyone has been to that venue before, so that will be exciting," said Borthwick. "Obviously, Regionals is a big part of the fall and it leads up to National Indoors. Our region is really strong and it gives us the opportunity to get some ranked wins off people that are playing in the tournament. So hopefully we can do that."

There will be two rounds of singles and one round of doubles competition on Friday, with one round of singles and two rounds of doubles on Saturday. The doubles draw will wrap up on Sunday with the singles final slated for Monday.
