TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State women's tennis team will host four schools this weekend at the annual Seminole Quad Tournament held at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. ACC rival Georgia Tech, two SEC teams Auburn and Ole Miss and one Big East opponent South Florida will compete in the tournament.
"This weekend we are hosting our only home fall event of the fall season, so we all are looking forward to playing on our courts and on our territory," said head coach Jennifer Hyde. The support of our community makes hosting events like this all the more exciting for the team."
The spring season, which is college tennis's main season of competition, provides for the intense dual match environment. This fall event is meant to take on some of that intensity as well, but is more focused on individual results as opposed to team results.
"The fall season is all about match play and getting back some of the match toughness we had at the peak of our spring season," said Hyde. "This weekend will provide us with some great competition and opportunities to play against some very good national caliber teams."
This will be the Seminoles first chance to play at home, which will be a welcome change after beginning the year at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, South Carolina and then traveling all the way across the country for the Riviera/ITA All American Championships in Malibu.
"We missed Noemie, Katie (and Oliver) when they went to California for the All American Championships, but it is great to have them back with the rest of the team for our only fall event at home," said Hyde. "We look forward to being on our turf, the weather is set to be just about perfect and we are thrilled to have some good teams coming to town for a great weekend of tennis."
Following this weekend's tournament, FSU will travel next week to Athens, Georgia for the ITA South Regional Championships which are held from October 22-25.
