TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - After the additions of Kerrie Cartwright and Laurence Porry last month, the Florida State women's tennis team will welcome one more player for the 2012-13 season in Kristina Schleich. "We are excited for Kristina to join our program," Associate head coach Oliver Foreman said. "She will bring a wealth of experience and exposure to our team. She has a wonderful personality and a great attitude and we believe that she will fit in perfectly with the team and coaching staff." Schleich spent the last two seasons with Colorado University where she collected a total of 32 singles wins. As a sophomore, Schleich played the majority of the season on the No.1 court where she faced a total of nine ranked opponents and recorded a total of eight wins for the spring. Off the courts, she was named to the 2011-12 Pac 12 honorable mention academic team. As a freshman, the Lilenthanl, Germany native was named as the Buffaloes co-MVP of the 2010-11 season. She was immediately assigned to the No.1 position, which was the first time since the 2003-04 season a freshman played on the top court for Colorado. While in Germany, Schleich played in a wealth of junior tournaments dating back to 2005. In 2007, she won the ITF junior doubles title in Spain. "She's an excellent addition, " Foreman said. " And we can't wait to see what she can add to the team." |
