TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The 16th-ranked Florida State women's tennis team will host its rival and fifth-ranked Florida on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

"We're excited to play the Gators tomorrow," head coach Jennifer Hyde said. "They're the two-time (defending) national champions and they've got a good, experienced team. At the same time, this team that we have has proven that we're pretty good too. We've had a couple upsets this year and we're playing some good tennis right now."

Senior Amy Sargeant takes a 12-match winning streak in singles into the contest. The Birmingham, England native is 19-3 on the year and is just the fifth Seminole to win 12 matches in-a-row in school history.

"This will be one of the biggest matches of my career," Sargeant said. "It's a rivalry match and it's more of a big deal for Fran (Segarelli) and I because we haven't beaten them since we've been here. We are positive and confident heading into tomorrow and we have nothing to lose. We're just going to go out there and have fun and compete."

The Seminoles had success earlier in the season against the Gators, going a combined 4-1 when facing Florida in singles or doubles at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.

Both teams are coming off their second losses of the season. The Seminoles fell 5-2 to (No. 23) Clemson over the weekend moving to 8-2 on the year, while Florida dropped an SEC match to (No.6) Texas A&M, 4-3. The Gators are 6-2 this spring as they also fell to (No. 4) Duke, 4-0.

"When you have a rivalry like this it doesn't matter," Hyde said. "The rankings don't matter - a number is a number especially on the day of a rivalry.

"We've had some good experience with top caliber teams and it only helps for a match like this," said Hyde. "We have to rise and be the team to make it happen."

During the match, fans will be treated to free pizza and a t-shirt toss. Check back to Seminoles.com, twitter and Facebook for more information on tomorrow's match.
