TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The 38th ranked Florida State women's tennis team (2-0) will head to Orlando, Fla. this weekend for the UCF Tournament beginning on Saturday at 10 a.m. hosted by the University of Central Florida.
"This is our last good weekend of preparation before the ITA Kickoff in Texas next weekend," head coach Jennifer Hyde said. "With four teams at this event, we expect to have some tough competition and we're hoping to see some very good tennis over the course of the next three days."
In addition to FSU and UCF, Iowa and Furman will compete in the event. Each team will play one doubles and singles match per day with a 10-minute break in between. The matches will only count individually and not towards an overall team record.
The Seminoles will play Iowa in doubles on Saturday before facing Furman in singles. On Sunday at 10 a.m. Florida State will play the Paladins in doubles and take on UCF in singles. FSU will conclude the tournament by playing the Knights in doubles on Monday at 9 a.m. before facing Iowa in singles.
Florida State enters four ranked singles players in the event and will be the only ranked squad participating. Those athletes are No. 37 Daneika Borthwick, No. 48 Mia Vriens, No. 73 Francesca Segarelli and No. 100 Amy Sargeant.
Furman boasts the only other ranked player in singles with No. 68 Lauren Kline. There are no ranked doubles pairs playing for any team.
