FSU Takes Two Titles at Lady Seminole Fall ClassicTALLAHASSEE, FL -- Florida State's Kylie Thompson, seeded No. 1 in the Lady Seminole Fall Classic C flight, defeated fellow Seminole Rakina Payne in a tough three-setter 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 to claim that flight's championship on Sunday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. FSU's Helena Karlsson teamed with Natalie Carratala' to defeat South Florida'a Marie-Eve Girard and Karen Stigh 8-4 for the B flight doubles title. It was virtually a battle between players from FSU and USF to see which team would grab the most titles in the championship matches. USF's Alicia Kerstyn, seeded No. 3 in the A flight, defeated Florida International's fourth-seeded Celeste Frey 6-4, 6-2 for the title. In the B flight singles final, FSU's Sasha Hanna was defeated by USF's Tina Harrison 6-1, 6-2. Harrison and Kerstyn also teamed up for the A flight doubles final, where they fellow to fellow USF teammates Jacqueline Bunting and Katherine Tessier, seeded No. 2, 8-5. Earlier in the morning, FSU's Kia Asberg and Hanna fell to Kerstyn and Harrison 8-4 in the A flight semifinals, while Karlsson and Carratala' defeated FSU teammates Payne and Thompson 8-6 to advance in the B flight semifinals. Florida A&M's Loren McGahee took the C flight singles backdraw title by defeating FIU's Elizabeth Corzo 7-5, 6-3.
