TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In spite of opening up the day with a win in the quarterfinals of the singles consolation round at the ITA National Indoor Championships, No. 24Noemie Scharle closed out fall play as she fell to No. 6 Laura Vallverdu of Miami 6-0, 6-0.
The sophomore kicked off the second round of the consolation draw in a battle against Aeriel Ellis of Texas. The Seminole pushed Ellis to a three-set match after she fell in the first set 4-6, but came back to post a 6-3 second set. The third set featured Scharle overpowering the Longhorn 6-4 to advance to the semifinal.
The rest of the Florida State women's tennis team will close out the fall season Sunday at the Seminole Invitational.
