TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State's women's tennis team had a great start to the Seminole Quad Tournament yesterday in singles, but slowed their torrid pace in doubles as they went 1-3 in their matches. Senior Katie Rybakova and sophomore Noemie Scharle went undefeated in their first day of action of singles but fell in their first doubles match 9-8 (1) against Auburn's Carolina Thornton and Emily Newton. The dynamic duo would rebound in their second match beating the No. 27 ranked doubles team 8-3 in Mississippi's Connor Vogel and Gabby Rangel.

"It was great for Katie and Noemie to get a solid top 25 win under their belts in their second match today," added Hyde. "They dominated a very solid team."

While the victory was a huge statement by Rybakova and Scharle, it was the only victory in doubles for the Seminoles on Saturday.

"We did not play our best tennis today," said head coach Jennifer Hyde, "but we definitely have pin-pointed some things that we have to improve upon tomorrow. We have to take better advantage of the opportunities we have during the fall to do the right things on court from the start of the match until the finish."

The team will look to rebound on Sunday when they finish up both singles and doubles action.

"We always speak to the team of being a third day team during these fall events," said Hyde. "I expect all of them to come out on fire tomorrow and finish up the weekend on a positive note. This is our last chance to get some solid match preparation for the Regional Championships next weekend. We need to make the most of the day."

Action will begin tomorrow at 8:30am at the Seminoles Scott Speicher Center.
