ATLANTA - Florida State wrapped up play at the Georgia Tech Invite on a high note as they swept all seven singles matches and defeated two of three doubles matches. The highlight of the tournament, however, was the debut of freshman Katie Rybakova, who finished the tournament unbeaten in singles and doubles.

"It was a very good start to our season. I'm pretty impressed," said head coach Jennifer Hyde. "Obviously with Katie going 6-0 on the weekend it was great to see a freshman come in and step up. I think that tells you a lot what she's going to be able to bring to the table every time she steps on the court."

Rybakova (Coral Springs, Florida) swept the singles field, defeating all three opponents faced including Georgia Tech's No.23-ranked Kirsten Flowers. She also dominated the doubles competition with partner Ania Rynarzewska (Inowroclaw, Poland), taking down Georgia's Kelley Hyndman and Monika Dancevic.

Seniors Carolin Walter (Bingen, Germany) and Tapiwa Marobela (Gabaroone, Botswana) also notched a win in doubles play in the final round of tournament flights. In all, Florida State went 7-3 in doubles action for the weekend, showing prowess in the pairs competition.

"I was very pleased with how all the girls played," said Hyde. "I think we've identified the things we're going to work on to get better, but it was a great season start for us."

Next week the Seminoles will split up, with Walter, Rynarzewska and freshman Lauren Macfarlane (Ogden, Utah) traveling to Malibu, Ca. for the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships starting Friday. Rybakova, Marobela, junior Jessica Wente (Whitehouse, Texas) and freshman Federica Suess will stay closer to home, competing in the Roberta Alison Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
