Women's Tennis Defeats AuburnLady Seminoles improve season record to 7-9.
March 22, 1998 AUBURN, Ala. - The #44 Florida State women's tennis team defeated Auburn University 6-3 on Sunday at Auburn to improve their record to 7-9 on the season. The Tigers fall to 2-11. Florida State began by splitting the singles with the Tigers 3-3. Leading the way for FSU, was No. 1 Nanette Duxin and No. 2 Ali Weber. Duxin defeated Ali LaGrane in a close three game set 4-6, 7-5, 7-6, and Weber beat Heidii Stewart in straight sets 6-4, 7-6. The other winner for the Noles was No. 5 Sasha Hanna who was victorious over Summer Edwards 6-0, 6-1. FSU clinched the victory in the doubles portion of the match as all three teams won. Winning was No. 1 Kia Asberg and Hanna, 8-5, No. 2 Duxin and Kylie Thompson, 8-4, and Weber and Helena Karlsson 8-3. The Lady Seminoles return to the court on March 24th when they battle
Illinois at 2:00 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee.
