March 14, 1998 TALLAHASSEE, FL--The Florida State women's tennis team lost 6-3 today in an ACC match versus Wake Forest University at Scott Speicher Tennis Center. With the loss, the Lady Seminoles dropped to 6-7 on the season. The Lady Seminoles captured victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions with Ali Weber and Nanette Duxin winning, respectively. Weber won easily 6-2, 6-2 over Nicola Kaiwai, while Duxin defeated Lile Aydin 7-5, 7-6. Wake Forest captured the victory in singles matches at No. 3 through No. 6. Mariel Verban defeated Helena Karlsson 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Sasha Hanna, Natalie Carratala and Kylie Thompson rounded out the singles line-up for Florida State. The lone victory in doubles play was at the No. 2 position. Duxin and Carratala defeated Aydin and Mariel Verban 9-7. Hanna and Thompson lost to the doubles team of Kaiwai and Dorothey Kurz 9-8 at No. 1, while Weber and Karlsson lost to Anne Marie Milton and Ullring 8-4 at No. 3. |
