Feb. 11, 1998

GAINESVILLE, Fla.-- Florida State women's tennis player Ali Weber upset #8 nationally ranked Dawn Buth of the University of Florida in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 Wednesday at the Scott Linder Tennis Stadium in Gainesville. For Weber, who is not currently ranked in the top 100 college women tennis players, it was her second straight set victory over a nationally ranked player in the past week. Saturday she beat 35th ranked Anita Buggins of Georgia Southern. Weber is now 2-0 when playing at the #1 position for the Lady Seminoles in dual match play.

On the day, Weber was the lone win for the ladies who dropped the match to Florida 8-1 and moved their record to 2-2 on the season. The second closest match came at No. 3 doubles where Weber and Helena Karlsson fell to Bonnie Bleecker and M.C. White 8-5.

The next match for the Lady Seminoles will be on February 21st at 11:00 a.m. when they travel to Atlanta to open up ACC play against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
