Florida Tops Nationally-Ranked FSU In Swimming And Diving

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Seminole swimming and diving team were back in action on Friday against intra-state rival, the University of Florida. The Gators came into the meet with both the men's and women's team nationally ranked at 10th and 8th respectively.

The Gators jumped out to big lead early and never looked back in defeating the Lady Seminoles 139 to 102, keeping their all-time undefeated record against the Lady Noles. Christy Cech led the charge for the Lady Noles winning both the 100 and 200 Freestyle. Keryn Krynauw also won her event in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:17.84. The Seminoles also took first in the both the 400 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay. In the 1-meter diving event, Michelle Sekeres (252.83) and Chelsie Lerew (252.15) picked up valuable second and third place points.

On the men's side, the Gators dominated the meet defeating the Seminoles 147 to 94. The Seminoles made a strong showing in the 50 Free with Nnamnse Ammons placing first in a time of 21.08. Greg Main-Baillie clinched first place points for the Seminoles in both the 100 and 200 Freestyle events. The Noles took first and second in the 400 Freestyle Relay to conclude the meet. In diving, Josh Edelman placed second in the 1-meter (270.90), while James Korten finished in fourth with a point total of 253.80.

With the loss, the Lady Noles moved to 4-2, while the men dropped to 3-4. The next meet for the Seminoles will be in Athens, GA for the University of Georgia Invitational on December 1-3.
