Florida State Diving Welcomes New Coach

Sept. 17, 1999

TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Florida State head swimming and diving coach Neil Harper announced that Patrick Jeffrey, a former diver at Ohio State University, has joined the Florida State coaching staff as the head diving coach.

"I am extremely excited that Patrick has accepted the opportunity to be our new head diving coach," Harper said. "He is regarded as one of the best diving coaches in the country and has coached several national champions. The athletic department and myself are excited about the future of our diving program under Patrick's guidance."

Jeffrey comes to FSU from Boca Raton, Fla., where he has produced four Individual Senior National Champions, three Individual Junior National Champions and four Individual World Cup Team members. He served as the USA Senior World Cup Team Coach in 1997 and 1999, the Senior National Team Coach from 1997-99 and the Junior National Team Coach in 1998.

As a diver, Jeffrey competed in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and 1996 Olympics in Atlanta where he was a finalist on the 10m Platform at both games. He is also a three-time US Diving National Champions on the 10m Platform.

A graduate of Ohio State University, Jeffrey was a three-time NCAA Champion in 1988, winning the 1m, 3m and 10m platform. he also received the NCAA Diver of the Year award in the same year. He received his bachelors degree in journalism and advertising in 1988.
