Women's Swimming And Diving Travels To Louisiana State

The Florida State Lady Seminole swimming and diving team will travel to Baton Rouge, La., for a match-up with the Louisiana State Lady Tigers on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at 11:00am at the LSU Natatorium. The Lady Seminoles are 9-3 going into the meet.
The Lady Seminoles postponed a trip to Athens last weekend due to snow and ice. In their last meet, the Lady Seminoles are coming off a 170-65 win over Florida Atlantic, winning all but one event. Florida Atlantic took an early lead after the 1650 Free but Tanya Gurr (1:51.39), Kristen Adams (1:53.12) and Christine Williams (1:57.22) took the top three spots respectively in the 200 Free. Christy Cech added wins in the 50 Free (23.50) and 100 Free (51.73) as Gurr won the 100 Back (58.13) and Adams won the 500 Free (5:02.99). Also recording wins were Anne Blachford in the 200 IM (2:06.40), Summer Bell in the 100 Fly (56.90) and Keryn Krynauw in the 100 Breast (1:05.44). Senior diver Marya Sabesky took the top spot in the one-meter (224.25) and three-meter (250.88) springboards as Caren Hirai took the second spot on the one-meter (216.68) and third on the three-meter (214.35). The 200 Free Relay team of Blachford, Cech, Gurr and Karin Holmstedt won the final event of the afternoon in a time of 1:34.64.
#22 Seminoles take on the #19 Louisiana State Tigers The Seminoles postponed a trip to Athens last weekend due to snow and ice. In their last meet, the Seminoles took 10 of the 13 events on their way to a 169-72 win over Florida Atlantic. Danny Chocron started the winning for the Seminoles as he took the 1650 Free (15:54.88) followed by Bill Schultz (15:59.33). Joey Marshburn won the 50 Free in a time of 21.31, followed by Kevin Flanagan (21.40), Julian Daily (21.43) and Will McReynolds (21.77). Devon Crock added a win in the 100 Fly (49.89) as Stephen Forson finished second in the event (50.95) followed by Nelson Mora (51.08). Other wins include Greg Main-Baillie in the 200 IM (1:52.41), Kevin Flanagan in the 100 Back (53.18) and Brett Petersen in the 100 Breast (57.42). Brent Burkman led the divers with a win in the one-meter (296.70) and three-meter (294.60) with Lou Dondero finishing second on the one-meter (262.80) and Glenn Gonzales in finishing second on the three-meter (279.75). The 200 Free Relay team of Main-Baillie, Flanagan, Marshburn and McReynolds won the final event of the afternoon (1:23.94).
Meet Neil Harper "I'm excited with the potential the Florida State swimming program has already established," Harper said. "I'm happy to be back in Tallahassee and have the opportunity to complete someting I started three years ago with the 1996 recruiting class."
At LSU, Harper was a seven time All-American, four time SEC Champion and was team captain as a senior. He also competed in the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics as a member of the British National Team. Harper was a member of the 400m Medley Relay that finished 6th at the 1984 games and 4th in the 1988 games.
Harper and his wife Paige are the proud parents of Katherine (4) and Kelly (2).
