Michelle Gacio begins her second year as an assistant coach at Florida State. Gacio joined the Seminole swimming and diving coaching staff after two years as an assistant coach under Head Coach Neil Harper at Ohio State.
Prior to Ohio State, Gacio spent three years coaching with the 200 member Florida Aquatic Swim Team (FAST) in Gainesville, FL, working as the Head Coach, Head Age Group Coach and Head Masters Coach. She coached all levels of swimming, both male and female, including several Olympic qualifiers and numerous Senior and Junior National Qualifiers.
In 1998, Gacio received her master's degree from the University of Florida in exercise and sport sciences specializing in sports administration. She also received her bachelor's of business administration from Florida in 1996. As a Gator, Gacio was an All-American and received all-conference honors in the 400 IM. She was a member of the Southeastern Conference Team Champions from 1991-1995 and in 1992, was on the third place NCAA Champioships team. Gacio finished 11th in the 1992 Olympic Trials in the 200 IM.
