ATLANTA - The No. 3-ranked Florida State sand volleyball team will compete at Georgia State's inaugural four-team tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the GSU Sand Volleyball Complex.
Florida State (9-2) will open the event in a dual against No. 9 Tulane (7-2) at 8:30 a.m. Saturday before facing Georgia State (5-6) at 12:30 p.m. later that day.
Louisiana-Monroe is also in competing at the tournament.
"It's going to be an exciting weekend because we get to play Tulane, who is the No. 2 team in our region," Florida State head coach Danalee Corso said. "They've shown huge improvement, so we are looking forward to playing them. It will be great to see this new venue and these teams we haven't faced yet this year. We are continuing to tweak our lineup and I think we almost where we need to be. We've got a lot of options on our bench, and we only a few weeks left until the National Championships. We are deep and strong team, but there is always room for improvement."
Following the dual matches, the four teams will participate in a pairs bracket tournament at the end of Saturday and all of Sunday.
The No. 1 and 2 pairs will compete in a "Gold" bracket, while pairs No. 3, 4 and 5 will play in a "Silver" bracket.
Play starts at 8 a.m. on Sunday with final matches scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
The Seminoles bring a five-match win streak in duals into this weekend. FSU went 4-0 at the Jacksonville Tournament last weekend.
Two of the top pairs for the Garnet and Gold this season have been the tandems of senior Maria Milosavljevic and sophomore Jace Pardon and sisters sophomore Stephanie Pellitteri and freshman Nina Pellitteri.
Milosavljevic and Pardon are 11-2 this season, playing in the No. 1, 2 and 3 positions, while the Pellitteri's are 12-2 playing at No. 3, 4 and 5.
