As the Florida State sand volleyball program prepares to begin its second season, Seminoles.com will highlight the personalities of the players in a weekly Q & A feature - "Diggin' in Deep." Our seventh "Diggin in Deep" participant is sophomore Sarah Wickstrom.

What's your motto in life?
Live every moment like it's your last.

Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at.
Volleyball would be one and I'll go with surfing for the second choice.

What is something most people don't know about you?
I have a nervous habit of picking my lip when I get really nervous or when I'm concentrating.

What is something you wish you did better?
School work

What is your favorite class at FSU?
I like my speech class.

Who had the biggest influence on your athletic career?
My parents because they supported me the whole way and they wanted me to try to be the best that I can be.

What do you think is your strongest athletic attribute?
Speed.

Best non-athletic talent?
I can dance.

What is the strangest talent you have?
I can make a raindrop noise with my mouth.

What was your childhood nickname or nickname that you currently have?
Wicky

Name something, other than volleyball, that you're truly passionate about.
I really enjoy the boat, fishing and diving.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
To get a scholarship to play volleyball at a D1 school.

Favorite song to dance to?
"Gangnam Style" by PSY

Favorite dance?
The "Wobble"

What is one item that you really should throw away but probably never will?
My stuff animal "Bunny."

Why did you choose FSU?
To play volleyball and to stay in the state that I have lived in my whole life.

What is your favorite thing about FSU?
The people here and my friends.

What is your earliest memory of playing volleyball?
Playing around the house with my sister and neighborhood friends. That's how we got started.

The biggest difference of indoor and outdoor volleyball is sand of course, but can you tell me what are some other differences?
We only play with two people outside and six inside and you have to be able to do everything in sand where indoor it is more position segmented.

What is the best way that you would describe your game style?
Calm and smooth.

What do you think is one of the biggest misconceptions about sand volleyball?
It not just girls in bathing suits. It's a very athletic sport and you have to be strong to compete.

What would be your perfect sand volleyball soundtrack?
Something very upbeat.

How do you spend your free time?
With my friends of course, just trying to have a good time.

What single piece of technology you cannot live without?
My cell phone

When do you feel your best morning, noon/afternoon or night?
Probably morning.
