Garnet Team Wins Sand Volleyball Season Opener

The Florida State sand volleyball team started its second season on Sunday


Extremely valuable player for the Seminoles ... one of the most versatile performers not only on the team but in the ACC ... team-oriented student-athlete who is not concerned with individual statistics ... contributed greatly in the passing game and figures to only improve in her senior year ... tough-minded competitor who uses great international experience in the past to perform well in big matches ... crafty attacker who reads her hitting lanes very well.

JUNIOR YEAR (2012) AT FLORIDA STATE:
-Joined Fatma Yildirim as the only Seminoles to be named to multiple all-tournament teams after being recognized following the Comcast Lady Vol Classic and the Florida State Invitational
-Finished second on the team with 3.06 digs per set and 2.42 kills per set
-Started 30 of 32 matches played at outside hitter, garnering kill totals of 266 and 337 digs
-Recorded one of her most impressive performances right off the bat with a season-high 19 kills and a .516 hitting percentage against nationally-ranked Iowa State on Aug. 25
-Led the Seminoles with seven double-doubles, including five against conference opponents Virginia Tech, Virginia, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Miami
-Recorded season highs of 18 digs twice, including Florida State's ACC title-clinching match against Miami on Nov. 23 and at Virginia Tech on Sept. 21
-In a 3-0 win over Cincinnati on Aug. 25, she substituted for injured libero Katie Mosher in the third set and performed well at a position she had little experience playing
-Posted 10 double-digit kill efforts, including three 13-kill matches versus Ohio State (9/15), at North Carolina (11/3) and versus Miami (11/23)
-Had a season-high .588 hitting percentage on 11 kills in 17 attacks at Houston on Sept. 14
-Recorded 19 matches where she racked up double-digit digs, including a stretch of six straight from Sept. 15-Oct. 5
-Season high five blocks against Georgia at the Florida State Invitational on Sept. 1
-Finished second on the team with 25 service aces, including a season high three on two occasions at Duke and versus Miami

SOPHOMORE YEAR (2011) AT WESTERN WYOMING:
-Recorded a team-best 490 kills for a near-33 hitting percentage
-Amassed 3.92 kills per set while leading her team to a runner-up national finish
-Had 87 total blocks and 532 digs

-NJCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team
-Region IX Player of the Year

FRESHMAN YEAR (2010) AT WESTERN WYOMING:
-Finished with team-leading 456 kills, a .298 attack percentage and 3.4 kills per set
-Led her team to a third-place national finish, recording 467 digs and 75 blocks
