TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Korina Rosario signed her National Letter of Intent on November 13 and comes to Florida State from Pensacola, Fla., looking to join the deep history of excellent athletes for the Seminoles.

"I chose Florida State because it is rich in tradition and values," said Rosario. "I had visited the campus multiple times for camps and clinics over the last several years and noticed how the coaching staff really valued their athletes both athletically and academically. Coacha, Coach Travis and Coach Snider are so knowledgeable. I know my game will get better with their instruction and guidance. I am so thankful to have this opportunity!"

Currently a senior at the West Florida High School of Advanced Technology, Rosario leads the Jaguars not only as a pitcher but also as a hitter. In 2013, she led the team with a .467 batting average (42-for-90), 12 doubles, four triples, one home run and had 16 RBIs.

In the circle, Rosario pitched the majority of the season for West Florida, going 9-4 with a 1.58 ERA, tossing 97.1 IP and 134 strikeouts while allowing 35 runs, 62 hits and only two extra-base hits. Rosario also participates in several extra-curricular activities as a member of the National Honor Society, Health Occupation Students of America and the WFHS student government.

Rosario is a beast in the circle.

"Korina Rosario is going to add depth for us in the circle and bring a different look being from the left side," said head coach Lonni Alameda. "Not only does she have the ability to grow into being a contributor in the circle, but she can swing the bat, has a good arm and has a big upside with her speed and versatility.

"She comes from an area that has produced several former and current Seminoles like Victoria East, Kelly Hensley, Courtney Adams and Stephanie Hartness so we know she is a very hard-nosed and gritty player. We're excited to start working with her and see what the future holds."

She was named her high school's Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman (2011) and followed it up with 2012 WFHS Offensive Player of the Year, All-Area Team and Class 5A All-Florida honorable mention honors as a sophomore. In 2013, she continued to build on those accolades as Rosario was named Florida's District 1 5A Player of the Year, WFHS's Most Valuable Player and was WFHS's Wendy's High School Heisman representative. She also was an honorable mention selection on the 5A All-Florida team for the second year in a row.

Rosario has also been a member of the West Florida Elite team since June 2012. During the 2013 travel season, she batted .356 (31-for-87) with 22 runs scored, 16 RBI and an impressive .522 average with runners in scoring position. Rosario also excelled as a pitcher for the Elite, going 14-2 with two saves in 31 appearances. She finished 2013 with a 2.26 ERA, 25 walks and 88 strikeouts.

"My goals are to always strive to improve myself each and every day," added Rosario. "To continue to grow and get better both on offense and defense. I fully expect to see myself pitching for Florida State in the Women's College World Series."
