TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Florida State softball is vying for its eighth NCAA Women's College World Series berth as it travels to Austin, Texas, to face No. 4 seeded Texas in the NCAA Super Regionals beginning Friday, May 24 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on ESPNU at Red & Charline McCombs Field.

Following the Friday night affair, the super regionals continue on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT with game two. If necessary, a deciding third game will be played on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT to decide who will be one of the eight teams competing at the NCAA Women's College World Series.

All three games will air on ESPNU. Holly Rowe will be on the call providing play-by-play, while Amanda Scarborough will supply the color commentary for each broadcast.

"The reason we are in this position is because of the way we came together as a team," head coach Lonni Alameda said. "We continue to fight, scrap and claw our way through games and what I love about our team the most is we just never give up. We're going to need a great effort to win this super regional in Texas' backyard. They're a great hitting team, have an excellent pitcher who gets people out and are very aggressive on the bases. As expected at this time of year, it will be a test for sure."

Seminole fans in the area can purchase all-session tickets and help support the Noles. All-session tickets include admission to all three games of the NCAA Super Regional and may be purchased online at TexasSports.com, by phone at 800-982-BEVO or in person at the UT Athletics Ticket Office in Bellmont Hall (9 a.m.-4 p.m. Central).

Single-session tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for youth and seniors.

The Seminoles (44-17) are making just their second NCAA Super Regional appearance since the format was introduced in 2005. The Seminoles' last super regional appearance came in 2006 when it played at Tempe, Ariz. against Arizona State.

Florida State earned a spot into the Texas Super Regional because of the "Miracle in Mobile." In the elimination game of the NCAA Super Regional at No. 13 seed South Alabama, the Seminoles trailed 6-1 in the top of the seventh with two outs and came back to win 7-6 in eight innings.

The Seminoles and Longhorns have played each other nine times, with Texas owning a 5-4 series lead. The two teams have never met in the NCAA postseason, and the last meeting was a 2-0 win by Florida State on March 15, 2009, in Fullerton, Calif.

The dynamic pitching duo of Monica Perry (1-0, 10 IP, 0 Runs) and Lacey Waldrop (2-1, 19 IP, 5 ER) combined for a 1.21 ERA in four games at the South Alabama Regional, including three games vs. South Alabama and one against Mississippi State of the Southeastern Conference.

Florida State has been aided largely by its school record 60 home runs this season. When the Seminoles produce one or more home runs, they are 33-3 in 2013, which includes a 16-1 mark when hitting two or more roundtrippers.

The Longhorns are one of the nation's top hitting teams, showing a .330 batting average under the tutelage of former Florida State assistant coach and Texas head coach Connie Clark (1990-95). Senior Taylor Hoagland is batting .444 with 14 home runs, 44 RBIs and a remarkable .626 on-base percentage that is expected to eclipse the school record. Junior shortstop Taylor Thom also had 14 home runs, 63 RBIs and 52 runs scored.

Texas senior pitcher Blaire Luna has enjoyed an outstanding season in the circle. The Austin native is 28-5 with a 1.17 ERA and has totaled 361 strikeouts. The opposition is batting just .129 against her.
