Florida State selected to return to Tuscaloosa NCAA Regional

May 12, 2008

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - On the heels of a disappointing ACC Championship came some very good news as Florida State was selected as one of 64 teams in the 2008 NCAA Division I Championships. For the second consecutive year the Seminoles will travel to the Tuscaloosa Regional hosted by the University of Alabama and will face Jacksonville State in game one on Thursday, May 15, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

"We are really excited to make it in again this year," Seminole head coach Dr. Jo Ann Graf said. "I think it really shows the strength of our schedule and we're happy to be going back to Tuscaloosa since Alabama is a good host."

This marks the ninth-straight appearance in the post season for FSU and its 20th regional appearance since 1986. The Seminoles are 38-28 in NCAA Regional action.

Host team Alabama is the top seed in the regional and is currently third in the nation after clinching the SEC Western Division Championship. The Tide will take on Chattanooga at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Florida State is among four Atlantic Coast Conference teams heading into regionals this week as ACC Champions Virginia Tech heads to Tennessee to play Louisville, Georgia Tech to Gainesville, Fla., to face top-ranked Florida and North Carolina will match-up with BYU in Chapel Hill.

More information, including tickets for the tournament, will be available on the NCAA.com site beginning Monday, May 12.
