ATLANTA, Ga. - From a private lounge in the Delta Sky Club at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Florida State softball team learned it would host the 2009 NCAA DI Softball Regional as the 16th-seed overall on May 15-17 in Tallahassee for the first time since 2004. The Seminoles earned the No. 1 seed at the Tallahassee Regional and will face fourth-seeded Oklahoma State in the second game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday while the first game of the day will match-up second-seeded California and third-seeded Mississippi State at 5:00 p.m. on JoAnne Graf Field.

"We're really excited," Seminole head coach Lonni Alameda said. "This is something we were going for - the chance to host an NCAA Regional. I thought we a good job of playing a good RPI schedule and getting the games we needed. It's really an honor to be at home in front of our fans and we're all just really excited about it."

The last time Tallahassee was awarded the regional was in 2004 and this season marks the 10th-consecutive and 22nd-overall regional appearance for Florida State.

Since the first bid in 1986, FSU has recorded a 39-30 record in regional play and has earned a spot in the Women's College World Series seven times. The last time the Noles headed to the WCWS was in 2004.
