TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Florida State softball infielder Kelly Hensley and pitcher Jessica Nori have been selected to the Capital One Softball Academic All-District® IV First Team, announced on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The recognition for Hensley and Nori, whom both are honored for their athletic and academic success, marks the third straight season multiple Seminoles have been placed on the all-district academic team. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Nori is a redshirt junior pitcher who is majoring in entrepreneurship and professional sales. The Weston, Fla. native was named to the Capital One All-District Team last season as well, as she shows a 3.70 cumulative grade point average. She has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athlete, a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member and a two-time All-ACC Academic Softball Team performer.
Hensley, a junior infielder, has also received several academic honors. The Niceville, Fla. native has been named the team's Golden Torch award winner over the last two seasons, and recently earned the Golden Nole award and an ACC Top Six for Service award for exemplifying the ideals of collegiate athletics. Hensley is an exercise science major with a standout 3.93 GPA, and has also been recognized as an All-ACC Academic Team member.
Both student-athletes will try to help No. 20 Florida State to its 12th ACC title as it hosts the conference tournament on May 9-11 at JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee.
