Florida State will be wearing special pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness and the uniforms will be auctioned off on Seminoles.com following the game.
"It is great to be back home after some games on the road this past week and we always look forward to Paint it Pink weekend," said head coach Lonni Alameda. "So many lives are impacted by cancer and it is an honor to be able to wear our pink jerseys and show that we support the fight against breast cancer."
FSU comes back to Tallahassee winners of 13 in a row, including nine straight ACC victories. In their most recent game, the Seminoles went to Gainesville and defeated No. 6 Florida by a score of 3-2 in eight innings on April 2. It marked the first time since 2003 that FSU had won on the road against Florida and snapped UF's 11-game overall win streak in the series, dating back to 2006.
The Seminoles lead the all-time series with Maryland, 45-14, and are 10-6 against the Terrapins dating back to 2009. Florida State won the final two games of the series last season by a combined score of 27-10.
Maddie O'Brien continues to lead the 2014 Seminoles with a .440 average, 12 doubles, 14 home runs and 60 RBI. She leads the team and the ACC in nine categories and is the NCAA leader in RBI. Courtney Senas has been putting together an amazing year as well, batting .379 with 10 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and an ACC-leading 28 walks.
Lacey Waldrop shows why she is on the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year watch list as she leads the NCAA with 23 wins and is second in the nation with a 0.59 ERA, allowing just 13 earned runs over 153.1 innings. She has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week each of the past three weeks and has won the award six times overall in 2014.
Sunday's game is scheduled for a first pitch at 11:00 a.m. Following Sunday's game, there will be a free clinic open to all members of the FSU Kid's Club as well as any child in 8th grade or lower.
