TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State sophomore pitcher Leslie Malerich has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the fourth time this season, and second consecutive week, that the Merillville, Ind., native has garnered the award. Malerich went 4-0 last week, including two shutouts, with a 0.54 ERA and one save. With a 3-0 record and a save in the UTC Frost Cutlery Challenge over the weekend, she was named to the All-Tournament team and earned MVP honors. Malerich held opponents to a .172 batting average and allowed just two runs in 26 innings of work on the mound. She made five appearances, including four starts and had three complete games. She walked just six batters while striking out 21. FSU's ace on the mound, Malerich is the team leader with a 17-9 record and a 0.81 ERA this season. The Lady Seminoles, who won the UTC Frost Cutlery Challenge over the weekend, will open ACC play vs. Georgia Tech on Saturday, April 1, in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., at the Seminole Softball Complex.
