Tallahassee, FL - Serita Brooks is the fifth Seminole to be honored by the ACC this season when she was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after a strong week at the plate and on the bases. The senior All-American from Tuscaloosa, AL played a part in 11 of the 27 runs the Seminoles scored this week including four RBI's and eight runs scored.

"I think we are starting to see the real Serita Brooks now that she is getting over a few nagging injuries," said head coach JoAnne Graf. "She is such a threat at the plate, in the field and on the bases and she can really hurt an opposing team in so many different ways."

Brooks made things happen for the Seminoles all week with her bat and on the bases. The senior All-American hit .412 with a homerun and four RBI's and slugged .588 for the week. She also led the team with an on-base percentage of .545 and was a perfect 12 for 12 in stolen base attempts. In a 4-0 win over Iowa State, Brooks drew two walks, scored two runs and stole four bases. The four steals set a new Seminole Softball Complex record. In the Noles second win over the Cyclones, Brooks hit an inside the park grand slam, went 3 for 4 at the plate, scored a run and knocked in 4 RBI's. She went 2 for 2 with two walks and four runs in a 11-0 second round win over Troy State.

Florida State returns to action today when it faces the University of Massachusetts (11-9) at 5:30 p.m. at the Seminole Softball Complex. The Seminoles will look to extend their winning streak to six games as the face a Minuteman team that was seeded one spot ahead of the Noles after pool play at this weekend's rain-shortened 2001 Tallahassee Democrat/Florida State Invitational.
