North Florida Notes

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - After a three-game sweep of NC State at home on March 15-16, the No. 10/11 Florida State Seminoles (25-4, 6-2 ACC) hit the road for a doubleheader on March 19 against North Florida (17-11, 2-7 Atlantic Sun) in Jacksonville, Fla. The first game will start at 4:00 p.m. at the UNF Softball Complex.

"We are hitting the middle of our season and are continuing to find ways to improve and get better," said head coach Lonni Alameda. "We had a great series against NC State, grinding out some quality ACC wins. I expect us to come out strong against UNF because we know that every team is dangerous and each game is an important step toward us accomplishing our goals for the season."

Lacey Waldrop was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on March 17 after posting a 4-0 record and 0.56 ERA, including three wins over ACC opponents Virginia Tech and NC State. It was the fourth time she has been chosen as the top pitcher in the conference this season.

She pitched every out of Florida State's two wins in a doubleheader against NC State on March 15, tossing 14.0 innings and giving up only five hits, three runs, two earned while recording 14 strikeouts.

Jessica Burroughs has also dominated the circle for the `Noles as she completely shut down NC State on March 16, allowing only two base runners for the entire game and retiring 19 in a row. She recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts as the `Noles beat the Wolfpack, 5-1, to complete a three-game sweep.

Tiffani Brown has been on fire lately for Florida State, batting .474 (9-for-19) with a double, triple and six runs scored in her last five games. She drove in two runs on a bases-loaded single in FSU's win over NC State on Sunday.

Maddie O'Brien is nearly unstoppable at the plate, batting .500 (16-for-32) with five doubles, two home runs, 11 runs scored and 18 RBI in her last 10 games. The `Noles were down 2-0 with two outs in the fifth inning to NC State on March 15 when she crushed a grand slam deep into the Tallahassee night to help give FSU a 4-2 victory.

The Seminoles have won five straight against North Florida and are 8-1 all-time against the Ospreys. Live video of both games will be available for free on ASun.TV with live stats available via SIDEARM Sports.
