March 16, 2000 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State softball team (19-13) will host Iowa State in a single game on Thursday, March 16th. The contest will serve as a "warmup" for the 17th Annual Tallahassee Democrat Florida State Invitational which gets underway on Friday, March 17th and concludes on Sunday, March 19th. Sixteen of some of the country's best softball teams will participate in the annual tournament which will be held at two sites in the Seminole Softball Complex and Messer Park. 14th-ranked Michigan highlights the 16-team pool. The Wolverines were winners of the tournament back in 1995. Last year's champions, the UMass Minutewomen, will also be participating. Each team will play three games on Friday. Florida State will face Troy State at Noon at Messer Park, Miami-Ohio at 4 p.m. and Kansas at 6 p.m. at the Seminole Softball Complex. As always, admission is free! A complete game bracket follows.
Friday, March 17
Saturday, March 18The two teams from each Pool with the best record through Friday's action will advance to the Championship bracket while the two remaining teams from each Pool will advance to the Consolation bracket. Saturday's bracket play will begin at 10 a.m., at Messer Park and the Seminole Softball Complex.
Sunday, March 19There will be two games played at the Seminole Softball Complex on Sunday. The Consolation bracket final game will be played at 10 a.m. The Championship bracket final game will be played at Noon.
