TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 10/11-ranked Florida State softball team (22-4, 3-2 ACC) will play it first home ACC series this weekend as NC State (15-6, 6-0 ACC) comes to Tallahassee for a three-game set. Florida State also celebrates its 30th anniversary of fastpitch softball this weekend with a variety of events.

"This weekend is huge for us in many ways," said head coach Lonni Alameda. "NC State is currently leading the ACC and we'd like to get revenge for last year's ACC Championship game. Also, we welcome back players and coaches who have help make this program into what it is today. We look forward to a great weekend of honoring the past and competing in the present."

Florida State leads or has a share of the ACC lead in 27 team statistical categories after week five while eight different Seminoles have combined to lead or tie for the conference lead in 20 different individual categories.

Maddie O'Brien leads the offense with a .481 batting average, 37 hits, nine home runs, 44 RBI and a slugging percentage of .961. She tops the conference in each of those categories.

Lacey Waldrop has continued to be nearly untouchable in the circle, throwing shutouts in each of her last three appearances. In her last 16.0 innings, she has allowed only four hits, zero runs, four walks and posted 28 strikeouts. Waldrop recorded her second no-hitter of the season at Virginia on March 9 in a 15-0 Seminole victory over the Cavaliers.

Overall, the junior pitcher is 13-2 with a 0.53 ERA over 92.0 innings in 2014. She has allowed only 17 runs, seven earned and 21 walks to go along with 115 strikeouts.

NC State comes to town winners of 14 straight. They are led by pitcher Emily Weiman and shortstop Renada Davis. Weiman has a 13-5 record and a 2.04 ERA. She has given up 86 hits, 35 runs, 32 walks with 116 strikeouts in 110.0 innings.

Davis has been named ACC Player of the Week twice this season and is currently batting .353 with five doubles, five home runs, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored.

Florida State is having several events over the weekend to coincide with the NC State series to celebrate its 30th anniversary of fastpitch softball. Friday night will have an alumni meet and greet with the current team, along with a facility tour. Saturday will have a slow-pitch softball game for returning players and coaches and a tailgate leading up to the FSU versus NC State game at 5:00 p.m. Players and coaches will be honored throughout both games of the doubleheader on Saturday.

The series with NC State is scheduled for a doubleheader on Sat., March 15 starting at 5:00 p.m., and a single game at noon on Sun., March 16.
