Feb. 28, 2000 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - FSU softball player Rita Brooks was named the ACC Player of the Week this week after leading the Lady Seminoles to a 3-1 record at FSU Tournament. Brooks, a native of Cottondale, Ala., turned in a solid weekend at the plate for Florida State as she finished the weekend at the Florida Atlantic Tournament with a batting average of .615 on 8-of-13 hitting in four contests. The junior centerfielder turned in her top performance against the hosts from Florida Atlantic, as she went 3-for-3 in the contest, including two RBI and her first collegiate homerun as FSU claimed a 2-0 victory. On the week, Brooks had five runs scored and drove in three other runs to go along with her impressive hitting credentials. Brooks leads the team with a .450 batting average and 17 stolen bases. She is also 4th on the team with seven RBI's.
